AEROFEED
WPS NITROGEN STORAGE CABINETS
The AEROFEED's
Series WPS Nitrogen Storage Cabinets are drawer-type
units, designed primarily to store waffle packs (chip trays) in a nitrogen
environment. Each fully extendable and removable drawer is fitted with a set
of partitions designed to hold the waffle packs in either segregated rows or
segregated stacks, depending upon the option chosen. Drawers are constructed
with ventilated bottoms to permit nitrogen flow around the stored components.
Series WPS Cabinets are available in both electrically grounded models for
storage of static-sensitive devices and non-grounded models for use where
static is not a problem. |

Cabinets
are constructed according to AEROFEED's
time-proven design - a solid wooden unit, covered on the outside with white
matte-finish melamine laminate, and fitted with an opaque white acrylic
faceplate. Interior surfaces of electrically grounded units are covered with
solid aluminium sheet in critical areas, and with a factory applied melamine
coating where electrical continuity is not required. All interior surfaces
of non-grounded units are covered with melamine. Transparent acrylic doors
are of AEROFEED's famous "bow-proof"
design, sealing tightly with a single latch. |

Drawers and partitions are fabricated from 1/8" thick
aluminium,
configured to permit vertical gas flow around the stored components.
Drawers move on roller and ball bearing slides, allowing them to be fully
extended from the front of the cabinet, without tipping, for easy access
to items stored at the rear. Stainless steel slide rollers in grounded
cabinets provide electrical continuity from drawer to ground; there are no
wire "feelers" or spring tension parts to get damaged or bent
and break the grounding circuit. Non-grounded drawers move on nylon
rollers.
Each drawer may be removed from the cabinet by pulling it to its fully
extended position, then elevating the front slightly to clear the internal
stops. |

Drawers
are available with any of three standard partition styles - two for
storing packs on edge, one behind the other, in segregated rows, and one
for storing packs horizontally, one on top of the other, in segregated
stacks. If desired, two or three different partition options may be used
in different drawers of the same cabinet. Custom designed partition
options are also available to suit individual user requirements. |
 |
 |
 |
 |
EC
style partitioning provides a similar storage arrangement to Style ES,
below, but has one additional feature:
Instead of all six channels being fastened together as a single assembly,
Style EC channels are individual units, which can be removed one at a time
from the drawer. This feature allows a portion of the drawer's contents to
be removed while the remainder is left stored in its nitrogen environment. |

ES
Style partitions are rigid assemblies, providing six connected channels,
each 2-1/4" wide, running from the front of the drawer to the back.
Channels are separated from each other by 1/8" thick aluminium. Each
channel is provided with a spring-loaded follower assembly, designed to
hold the waffle packs upright and located toward the front of the channel.
Followers may be positioned at any point in the channel to provide the
desired level of storage compactness. Each channel, in addition, is
provided with two stainless steel divider cards (12 per drawer) which may
be positioned between any two packs to separate those in front from those
behind. Cards have label space at the top for parts identification. |
 |
 |
 |
 |
Partitions
in Style HS drawers form cubicles,
2-1/4" square by 2" deep, each of which can hold up to five
2" x 2" chip trays, one on top of the other, assuming that each
tray is stored with its own cover and clip. Capacity per cubicle is
increased if trays are stacked with one cover and clip per stack. Cubicle
bottoms have large openings so that stacks of trays can be pushed up from
below. Horizontal storage of waffle packs can be very advantageous if the
chips being stored are thin enough to fall out of their individual tray
compartments and collect in a heap between the tray and tray cover when
the waffle pack is turned on edge. |

All cabinets are furnished, as standard, with a gas
inlet fitting (mounted in the center of the cabinet back) sized to accept
1/4" OD copper or hard plastic tubing. Electrically grounded units
are furnished, in addition, with a rear-mounted grounding stud, for
connecting the cabinet, by customer's wire, to plant ground. Also, as an
OPTION, a regulated Flow Meter can be ordered (see picture). |
 |
 |
 |
 |
All
conductive and static dissipative surfaces inside a groundable cabinet are
connected to a single point in the cabinet interior, placed in series with
a one megohm resistor and then wired to a grounding terminal on the
outside back of the cabinet. Grounding requires only a hard wire
connection from the terminal to plant ground. |

Vari-Cabs
with the TSD option offer the ultimate in control of ESD and electrostatic
fields. They are almost identical in appearance and dimensions to other VC
cabinets, but are constructed of all static dissipative materials. They are
recommended for use in areas where no untreated acrylics are allowed, or
when parts to be placed in storage may be damaged by exposure to EMI fields,
even though no direct electrostatic discharge takes place. TSD cabinets
include the following features not found in other VC cabinets:
 |
All
interior surfaces are lined with aluminum (instead of just sides and
floor). Cabinet exteriors are covered with static dissipative
laminate,
not conventional laminate.
|
 |
Faceplates are made from
anodized aluminum plate, 1/8" thick, rather than white opaque
acrylic.
|
 |
Acrylic doors are permanently
coated, both inside and out, with a proprietary resin, making them totally
static-dissipative while retaining all of their flexibility and
transparency. |
