AEROFEED NRC-300
SERIES CABINETS (See
Model RSC-100 below for Ambient Storage)
Cabinets are designed to provide orderly high-density storage, in a dry
nitrogen environment, of electronic components packaged on tape and reel.
Models within the Series will handle any reel up to 15 " in diameter,
carrying tape of any standard width. Cabinet shells are similar in design
and construction to our long established VARI-CAB family, while interior
racking designs offer a variety of reel storage possibilities, some intended
for maximum economy, others for maximum flexibility. Reels are stored
vertically, in segregated compartments for ease of identification and
access. Capacities range from 16 to 90 reels per cabinet, depending on
diameter and tape width. Three levels of ESD/EOS/EMI field protection are
available, ranging from none to total. |

Cabinet shells are offered in three standard
sizes, for maximum reel
diameters of 7", 13" and 15". They are built on a solid
wooden core with linings, fronts and exterior coverings appropriate for the
level of static protection specified (see Table 3 Construction Materials). All models
feature AEROFEED's time-honored "bow-proof" double plate
door design, sealing tightly with a single latch. Latches utilize a large
T-handle with 180 degree rotation from full open to tight closure, and
provide for easy field adjustment of door gasket compression. On groundable
cabinets latches are connected to the internal grounding system,
automatically grounding the operator each time the latch handle is touched.
Custom sizes and designs are available on special order. |

Type
A separators consist of matching slotted plates, one at the top of the
storage area, the other at the bottom, with reels held between them, as
shown in Figure 1. Seven slot widths are available, as listed in Table 2
(Reel Compartments widths). All slots on the same shelf are of the same width, but different
widths can be selected for different shelves. Slots are 5/8" deep,
spaced 1/8" apart. Separators are machined from 3/4" thick
plates of polyethylene (either conventional or static-dissipative,
depending on the static control option selected), with slot surfaces
ramped toward the back to prevent reels from rolling toward the cabinet
door. Despite the uniform slot width it is often practical to store reels
of different size tape side by side, provided that a slot width is
selected which can hold multiple reels of thinner tape in a compartment
sized for a single reel of wider tape. See Table 2 for examples. |

Shelves in an NRC-300 cabinet are divided into compartments to insure
that reels remain vertical and easy to access. Two reel separator
systems are offered - Type A and Type C (see Figs. 1 and 2). Type A
separators, with their fixed compartment widths and simple design, offer
the lowest initial cost, but limit the cabinet's storage capability to
reels of only one diameter (see Table 2). Type C separators, with a more
flexible design, can handle reels of any diameter and width side by
side. All shelves in the same cabinet must utilize the same separator
type.
 |
 |
 |
 |
 |
Like
Type A separators Type C's also use matching slotted plates, but the
plates are located differently in the storage area and hold the movable
divider bars that separate the reels rather than holding the reels
themselves. Over 120 slots, each 1/8" wide spaced .050" apart,
are provided per shelf, allowing compartment widths to be adjusted in
0.175" increments simply by moving the divider bars from one slot to
another. The divider bars themselves are 2" x 1/8" thick
aluminium, and can be moved from one slot position to another without tools.
The bottom plate, positioned near the front of the shelf, acts as a stop
to prevent reels from rolling too far forward. Flexible plastic stops,
also movable without special tools, are optionally available to prevent
small (7") reels from rolling to the back of a cabinet sized for
larger (13" or 15") reels and becoming difficult to access for
removal. |

When
tape and reel first became a popular method of component packaging,
standards were established in the USA setting maximum reel diameters for
each popular tape width. Components made outside the USA, however, are
often packaged on reels conforming to the producing country's standards,
where such exist, which are not necessarily the same as American
standards. Users should verify, if at all possible, that the reel
diameters they are accustomed to using will continue to be available from
their usual sources of supply, or else should plan on purchasing cabinets
which will accommodate reels of other (usually larger) |
 |
 |
 |
 |
All cabinets are furnished, as standard, with a gas
inlet fitting (mounted in the centre of the cabinet back) sized to accept
1/4" OD copper or hard plastic tubing. Electrically grounded units
are furnished, in addition, with a rear-mounted grounding stud, for
connecting the cabinet, by customer's wire, to plant ground. Also, as an
OPTION, a regulated Flow Meter can be ordered (see picture).

AEROFEED
RSC-100
SERIES STORAGE CABINETS (See
NRC-300 above for Nitrogen Storage)
Series RSC-100
Reel Storage Cabinets are designed to provide orderly, high density,
dust-resistant storage of any SMT reel from 7" to 15" in diameter,
carrying any width tape from 8 to 56 mm. Individual models within the
series are available to hold reels of one diameter and one tape width or
several diameters and all tape widths side by side. Reels are stored
vertically, in segregated compartments, for ease of identification and
access. Capacities range from 16 to 90 reels per cabinet, depending on
diameter and tape width. Cabinets are optionally available with
groundable static-dissipative interiors for storage devices sensitive to
ESD and EMI fields. |

Cabinet shells are
constructed of wood, covered on the outside with heavy gauge black vinyl
fabric. Interiors are lined with either matching vinyl or static
dissipative polyethylene, depending on grounding option chosen. Doors
are 1/4" thick clear acrylic, either conventional or static-dissipative,
as required, fitted with magnetic latches. Cabinets are designed for
stacking and fastening together, either on fixed leg bases against a
wall, or on caster bases for roll-around use on the production floor.
Shells are offered in three standard sizes, one each for maximum reel
diameters of 7", 13" and 15". Custom sizes are also available. |
